Dog and Wolf

Batton down the hatches,
The sun escapes its day
Twilight highlights in each step,
Just a short stroll between Dog & Wolf.
Sear through my transparent cover,
Ignite skeletal rays,
Senses sharpened to a leaden tip,
Fall heavy on sounds five time zones away.
Smell the pulse of the running man
As he greets you through a wall of arms,
Eye teeth face sunsinged skin,
Sink in quicksand & gnaw the bones of his reunion banter.
His grasshopper frame shakes you off,
Tells you stories, caught in the echoes of a wind tunnel
Bellows at your doubt with all the sincerity of a corrupt colonel.
Your ears don't hear the intricacies,
Your eyes see words, floating, in the warm air of his tired breath,
Contorted each by its own untruth.
Your wolves see the glisten through a snarling lip,
Howls hurtle through curious trees
To trample his fleshy sighs of fancy
& feast on his woeful pleas.
There luminescent lie the ripped remains
In the light of the moon's first sky.
